We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been selected to deliver digital case management for the Patent Transformation Project by Intellectual Property Office (IPO). IPO is the UK’s Right Granting Organisation for requests for the granting of Patents, Designs and Trademarks. It is an Executive Agency of the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Skills (BEIS).
Toplevel won the bid with our digital case management system, Outreach after a selection process that included an intensive two day competitive hands-on evaluation exercise, during which Toplevel and IPO staff collaboratively built a working prototype of a Licence case, including the digital front-end, using Outreach Open Design Studio.
Toplevel were keen to conduct the proofing exercise in a transparent way, which enabled IPO staff to get “hands-on” with Outreach Open Design Studio straight away. Our design goal is to ensure Outreach is easy to use and low-code so that business analysts can configure cases and digital services themselves.
The intention is to replace legacy Patents systems to support the IPO’s wider business transformation strategy for over 50 business processes. The initial contract is for a pilot covering delivery of the filing service, including supporting GDS assessment of the customer facing front-end, providing caseworker functionality and integration with existing on-premises services. It will be hosted on Toplevel’s GCloud Protect+ service for IL3/OFFICIAL SENSITIVE level needs, using encrypted data-at-rest.
